A 3-hour heritage walk & sketch of Armenian St, including visits to Peranakan Museum, Armenian church and the 1st botanical gardens on a street.

Uncover the rich layers of Singapore’s heritage, explore its spiritual foundations, and express your observations through the art of urban sketching.

This unique 3-hour immersive tour guides participants through the vibrant history and cultural tapestry of Armenian Street and its iconic landmarks. The program begins at the historically significant MPH Building, setting the stage for a journey through a district shaped by diverse communities. Participants will then appreciate the beautifully pedestrianized Armenian Street, noting its lush urban greenery and local plants, and understanding its transformation into a vibrant public space.

The journey continues with a deep dive into Peranakan culture at the Peranakan Museum, exploring its fascinating traditions, elaborate costumes, and unique heritage. Following this, the tour sheds light on the historical significance of the Bible House, highlighting its role in Singapore’s religious landscape. The faith and architectural highlight is the Armenian Apostolic Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator, Singapore’s oldest surviving church. Participants will learn about its neo-classical design, the pioneering Armenian community, and the remarkable story of Agnes Joaquim, breeder of Singapore’s national flower.

The experience culminates in a dedicated urban sketching session, providing participants with the opportunity to creatively capture the street’s charming shophouses, the church’s grandeur, or other inspiring elements they’ve discovered along the route.
This program is perfect for history enthusiasts, art lovers, and anyone seeking a unique and engaging way to connect with Singapore’s multifaceted past and present.

Sketch Walk Armenian St – $20 plus sistic booking fee.
Foreigners, non-Singapore citizens will need to pay for the enterance fee to Peranakan museum separately.
